Opaline Compass

from a private collection

Created for my first featured show at the famous La Luz de Jesus Gallery 2012. Opaline Compass has five real butterflies and one moth. These extremely bright and irridescent specimens sit upon architectural structures that appear to encompass one another. The mechanical rotating parts include a custom made gear driving mechanism that is exposed for viewing purposes which can be seen through an antique mirror placed beneath it. Fifteen watchbots fill the structure as they work and play. Includes real mini flowers, vintage vacuum tubes, vintage watch parts, genuine pink sapphires, blue sapphires, golden topaz, onyx, garnets, rose zircon, and cubic zirconia. Now in the personal collection of the low brow art icon Billy Shire, owner of the La Luz De Jesus Gallery.
