Butterflyport

NFS

“Butterflyport” is a place where Watchbots hop onto butterflies for transportation. Watchbots are miniature robots I made from watch parts. This is my very first crank driven moving sculpture.  There are three flying butterflies  made from a real butterfly with its own watchbot rider.  There is also a fourth butterfly that is stationary with a Watchbot rider about to board it. Butterflyport has twelve Watchbots with real gemstone eyes such as rubies, sapphires, citrine, diamonds, amethyst & garnets. The sculpture includes, clock parts, watch parts, & vintage hardware. It measures 13 inches around and 18 inches tall. Created July 2012 for the La Luz De Jesus Gallery Jury Winner Show.

Over the years “Butterflyport” has become a famous icon in the Steam Punk community where I have been a featured “Maker” at the  HRM Steampunk Emporium on the famous Queen Mary in Long Beach CA, the Wild Wild West Steampunk Museum in Old Tuscon Arizona, and Clockwork Alchemy in San Jose CA.
