Dragon Spell

Private Collection

A magical crystal pendulum hangs above two floating hands wearing white gloves. In one hand there is a glass orb and sacred beads. Inside of the orb is a dragon’s head with emerald eyes, silver fangs, and a regal high collar coated in pyrite crystals. The other gloved hand holds an ancient alchemy book with burnt edges from dragon’s breath. Coming out from the pages is a dragon’s talons wielding an african batik bone spear. African batik bone art is created by Ghanian and Kenyan tribes people. The process to create these bone pieces of art can go back to 4th century BC Egypt. It was originally a means to apply patterns to cloth and was adopted by African tribes to apply to beads and accessories often symbolic of higher social status. Batik bone art is made individually from the bones of agricultural animals like the cow or camel with no two pieces being the same. The music box tune is Sunrise Sunset. (The dragon was created with preserved iguana parts).
